Them Teeth
RIYL: Young Widows, Karp, Akimbo, These Arms are Snakes, Helms Alee, Retox and Whores
For over a decade, Western Michigan trio Them Teeth has served as a relentless force in the noise rock underground, delivering a brand of punishing, Midwestern heavy dissonance that has earned comparisons to the best of the genre, from the early 2000s Hydra Head Records roster (Jesuit, Will Haven) to heavy hitters like Unsane and TAD.
Forming in 2013 from the wreckage of projects like Supercontinent, Rough Rope, and Mean Mother, the core of the band—singer and guitarist Ben Roeske and drummer Adam Tatro—solidified the lineup in 2014 with the addition of bassist Jason Harris. The resulting sonic trio specialized in a heavy, tight-rhythm approach, characterized by Roeske’s frantic, shredded vocals and a persistent, unsettling dissonance woven through every riff.
Since their formation, Them Teeth has established a formidable discography, including an early self-released demo and a split 7″ with France’s Sofy Major released on Detroit’s, now defunct, Corpse Flower Records. For Triple Eye Industries, the band has been a cornerstone of the label’s noise rock lineage, releasing the caustic 7″ The Knuckledragger (TEI-007), followed by the critically praised cassette Succumb to Life (TEI-040), and their first full-length Tired (TEI-065).
Now, Them Teeth returns to Triple Eye Industries with their blistering new album, Basement Energy. A twelve-song testament to their enduring power, this new record captures the raw, essential aggression that has defined the trio for over a decade. Serving as the band’s definitive final statement, Basement Energy closes the book on their commitment to noise rock. Recorded in-house by drummer Adam Tatro, mixed by Scott Miller at Ancient Temple Recordings, and mastered by noise rock veteran Blake Bickel (Bronson Arm) at Dynamic Sound Service, this album stands as the essential, concluding chapter in the legacy of Them Teeth.
