Now defunct, Bound to One was a melodic hardcore punk band formed nearly 30 years ago in Racine, WI. As teenagers, they setup a rehearsal space in their pal Jesse’s basement in 1993 began to write material which would eventually become their their first self-released cassette demo, “Chosen Wisdoms”.
This demo, recorded Milwaukee with producer and engineer Brian Egeness (Die Kreuzen) was self- released and shopped around to labels, eventually landing them a coveted spot on the Beer City Records “Underground Invasion #1” compilation. The band eventually met local DJ, Scott “Rude Boy” Ruud and began getting consistent rotation on 91.7 WMSE in Milwaukee.
In the years that followed, the band experienced a few more lineup changes, all the while, continuing to record and distribute their music, mostly in the form of short run CD-Rs. After years of gigging and gaining a local following, they were often tapped to open shows in Milwaukee for bands like The Misfits, The Mighty Mighty Bosstones and Murphy’s Law.
After being active nearly 10 years and being plagued with constant lineup changes, the band called it quits and went their separate ways. Their releases eventually got picked up and digitized by local archive website, MKEpunk. And although there have been numerous whispers and rumors of reunion shows with various lineups, nothing has come of it. Now, two decades after the dissolution, the band finally sees it’s entire discography mastered, for the first time, and distributed on a record label.
Who knows? Perhaps this will get the band back together? Or not.
