Giant Killer
RIYL: Mastodon, Bummer, Generation of Vipers, Herod, Converge
Under a black moon, Giant Killer vows to avenge his mother by killing his father, the king of the giants.
Combining elements of bands like Mastodon, Generation of Vipers, and Converge, Giant Killer is a musical set to heavy music. The band’s first record is the result of 5 years of writing in the grungiest practice spaces in Chicago. The story is brutal and the music is loud.
Giant Killer is Dan Hawthorne (Great Gray Buildings), Matt Tanaka (Great Gray Buildings, Grand & Noble), and Soren Pedersen (The Terrible News, SIVINI).
The record tells the story of a half-man, half-giant seeking to avenge the death of his mother by killing the King of the Giants.
It is set on a floating island, where humans and giants have long lived in separate territories. The giants rule from atop the island’s single mountain, while the humans cling to dwellings carved into the stone underneath. A dark forest divides the two worlds, lined by a row of guard houses that no human or giant is meant to cross.
Driven deep into the forest by a murderous band of his own people, the half-man boy is saved by his mother, giving her life for his. Lost in the forest and near death the Black Moon appears in the sky above him, and this omen sets him on his journey to become Giant Killer.
Now a man, Giant Killer will stop at nothing to summit the mountain and stand face to face with the King of the Giants. With his mother’s dying charge echoing in his ears, he will exact his revenge.
Giant Killer is loud.
We are proud to announce that Giant Killer’s debut LP, Black Moon, is slated for release on May 27, 2022 via Triple Eye Industries.
