M.APE is the ambient/noise project between Francisco Ramirez aka Whaler (Traitors, Volunteer, Gasoline Fight) and Martin Defatte aka Tron Jovi (Guerrilla Ghost, Volunteer, Stock Options). They debuted as “Masturbating Ape” on the Wired Explorations, Vol 1 vinyl compilation, combining the improvisational ambient noise compositions of Whaler and the more structured studio production of Tron Jovi.
Taking a cue from Francisco, and delving head-first into the world of tape loops Martin embraced the fluid, anti-structure of Whaler‘s work, built a 4-track cassette rig and re-emerged from the worldwide pandemic with a new approach and aesthetic.
Is it music? Is it art? Is it both? Who knows? Tron Jovi and Whaler make BOOM BOOM.
